And, being an addicted knitter, I will knit my own dress. In this blog I tell you how. As I always get free patterns of the interwebz, I post them free here as well. They'll probably will need lots of adapting anyway. I hope you will enjoy my journey to the most perfect weddingdress as much as I will :D
So: hereÅ› the start. I am thinking about what I want. I knit lace and love it, so it will be a lacedress. I've looked around on the interwebz and haven't found many examples unfortunatly.
Here is a nice stole:

a 1930s long very fine one, 'Marina' from Minerva Knitting:
and one a 1970s hooded cape by Golden Hands. This one has the pattern available for free, if you email the blogwriter.

But non of this is what I want. Not that I really know what I want. At the moment I am making a skirt, much like the one in the right top corner (from the first book of modern lace knitting, Marianne Kinzel):
However, I don't know yet whether I like cotton. In itself, the feel is not as soft as wool. I probably prefer wool, but that has a risk of streching too much. Today I also bought a cotton, which is coated in silk and microfibre. Really nice and soft. But it doesn't knit up nicely, the yarn is too thick and wire-like.
Tomorrow I'll go to another woolshop, with a friend who is an expert as well, perhaps more than I am. Hopefully they'll have more like what I want.
I have made up another design. That one would have buttons up the front part, just like the cape shown above. It would also have a lace back, like this:
It would end up being two panels for the sides and fixed to it, but looks like it's underneath, a front and backpanel.
Oh, and if it gets chilly, I want this weddingring shawl:
Thank god I still got one year!!!!
Already curious how this bride will looklike in about 344 days... And off course I am very curious as well for in what outfit the groom will show up. Hopefully there will be some "Bla bla bla" around @ the greatest day of 2010, for what will YOUR DAY be without a few cute sheep? Have loads of fun during the preparations and spend some time enjoying for this will be a sparkling time filled with fun and happiness in a way which is not to find always and everywhere!
